What to do Over Holiday Break: Twin Cities

It's the most wonderful time of the year! We are hoping that you all have a holiday season full of fun activities with friends and family! We know that for the next week, kids will be out of school and many people will be taking some time off to enjoy the holiday spirit.

We love living in the Twin Cities because there are so many great activities year round. We are so grateful to live in an area that offers a variety of events for friends and family. During this time of year, it's especially fun to have an excuse to get out of the house.

If you're anything like us, you will want to enjoy the fun! We also know that if you have little ones you may need an excuse to get out of the house. Don't worry, there are still plenty of activities going on this weekend through the New Year to keep you occupied and having fun!

Here are some great activities that are going on in the Twin Cities -

For the Family:

• "A Christmas Carol" - Guthrie Theater
  Running through Dec. 30th

  A miserly and miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge greets each Christmas with a “bah humbug,” until he is visited one Christmas Eve by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. Through a restless night, the spirits show him happy memories from his past, cruel realities from the present and the grim future should he continue his cantankerous ways.

  Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is a perennial favorite that continues our holiday tradition for the 43rd year. Now is the time to experience this cherished production with your loved ones!

• Nordic Christmas in Swedish Mansion - AMERICAN SWEDISH INSTITUTE
  Through Jan. 7th
  Visit ASI’s Fest! Merry Mansion, our popular Nordic holiday rooms and the new Skål! Scandinavian Spirits exhibition. Take part in a full slate of performances, workshops, tours, shopping and events.

  Events include tours of the holiday mansion and Spirited Glögg Tours. If you haven't been to the mansion - this is a great spot all year round!

• A Victorian Christmas - Alexander Ramsey House
  Through Dec. 31st
  Experience Christmas 1875 on this 60-minute tour, with cookies fresh from the wood-burning stove and holiday music on the piano. Plus, shop for replica Victorian ornaments and holiday gifts!

• Holiday Flower Show at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory - Marjorie McNeely Conservatory
  Through Jan. 7

  The Holiday Flower Show is a tradition that started in 1925 and continues to be an anticipated holiday event. The floral show will feature pink Poinsettias with traces of white for a stunning display of color. Admission is free but a donation of $2-$3 will help them care for the plants at the garden.

• Winter Skate - Loring Park
  Through the Winter Season

  The outdoor skating rink will be free and open to the public, so this will be a great place for the family to have fun in the outdoors. Bring your own skates or you can borrow a complimentary pair of skates at the warming house (first-come-first-served).

For the Adults: 

• Brews and Bulbs Brewery Tour - Flat Earth Brewing
  Through Dec. 30th
   

  'Tis the season to be merry!  Come enjoy two holiday traditions at once, beer and holiday lights.

  The tour includes 3 local craft breweries - 12welve Eyes, Summit Brewing and Flat Earth.

  In-between tasting the seasonal and flagship beer selections we will take the warm luxury motor coach through multiple holiday light displays to view an amazing display of holiday lights.   While viewing these lights, you'll have fresh holiday popcorn from Candyland that would pair great with any seasonal brew on tap.  So, make sure you get a growler to go at one of our brewery stops!

• New Years' Eve in the Batcave - Union Rooftop
  December 31st

  This year is their 4th annual NYE celebration. This year the theme is Gotham City! Form our award winning rooftop to our basement Vegas style lounge, all three levels will be fully decorated and themed including our employees who will be in full costume. Each level will have a different style of music.
