In the Community
Happy Friday Everyone! It is another wintery weekend projected... in April. At least we are almost in the home stretch! If you need a warm up, you can read our last post about how hot the market is right now.
We wanted to share a little bit about what our team, RJ&Co. does in the community, especially where our home office is, Apple Valley.
One of our key values, and something that motivates us, is to give back to the community. We work hard so we have time and resources to support the people that help make what we do possible!
Here's our most recent experience in the community -
The Open Door
This is one of our favorite organizations! The Open Door is an incredible organization that has the goal to provide fresh and nutritious meals to people in the community that to do not necessarily have the means to purchase on their own.
The Open Door has 12 Mobile Pantry Sites, yes they bring food and meals directly to their customers. Additionally they provide service to over 5,000 individuals each month and use a Garden to Table Program that helps families grow their own food, free of charge.
What you may not realize, and what was even more surprising to us is that paper items, such as toilet paper, are not covered by assistance such as food stamps for people in need. That means that many times families that need assistance have extremely limited access to toilet paper because they cannot afford it.
Recently, we held our Spring Client Appreciation Event and we asked for our clients to bring in toilet paper and paper bag donations. Our clients brought in over 200 rolls of toilet paper and dozens of paper bags. These items are extremely valued by The Open Door because they often can only give about 1 roll of toilet paper per family each month.
We were thrilled that our clients contribution of over 200 rolls was able to be combined with our home Keller Williams office for a total of 467 rolls. That is AMAZING! Jason, from the Open Door was there to celebrate with us and TP our office leadership to celebrate such an awesome outcome!
Our office and team also participated in a day last spring helping them pack and organize the food shelf at their Apple Valley location. This included scrubbing down the transportation vehicles and getting the vans ready for the next drop offs. We will be doing this again this year on May 10th.
