Home Summer To-Do's
Can you believe we are already a week into June?! Where has the time gone? We for one, are not complaining about this gorgeous weather and lush green everywhere.
Summer is always one of the best times of year to spend your days outside, we only get a few months! We do know however, that normal home to-do's don't just stop. Here are some things that you can be doing at home during the summer to keep your home looking it's best, and still get to enjoy the sunshine.
Grill Time - This is one of the first and most important ones if you love grilling out as much as we do! Make sure that you give your grill a good cleaning for the season. Scrub grates and make sure that everything is in functioning order. Don't forget to check your propane tank too before you get out there!
A/C Unit Care - By now, you may have already gotten the A/C going in your home. However, it is still important to make sure you change any filters, as this is recommended that it is done every few months. Additionally, make sure that any landscaping or plants around your unit are trimmed as your A/C unit need lots of air flow to keep that cool air going in your home.
Driveway, Patios and Sidewalks, oh my! - Cracking in driveways and sidewalks can be quite common. Make sure to take a look at these and see if you can do a simple at home fill in job, or if something is significant enough that it needs to be replaced or repaired by a professional. If it does, make sure to reach out to a contractor ASAP, they are often extremely busy through the Minnesota summer months! (We can help you with a contact if you need one!) You should also give these items a good power wash as well. Have you noticed how much grim can build up? You'll feel much more comfortable running around barefoot after you give them a good cleaning.
Clean the Exterior of Your Home - Home exteriors can get a lot of wear and tear, one of the best ways to brighten up the view is to either freshen up the exterior paint, or give it a good power wash. This would also be a good idea if you notice any mold build up, old birds nests, or just leftover winter residue. Having a window washer come out to clean the outside of your windows is a great idea too. Let that sunlight in all day long!
Landscaping and Gardening - This can be one of the most fun outdoor jobs! Planting flowers, adding mulch, or maintaining a garden can be a beautiful staple in a yard. If you have landscaped areas or gardens already at home, make sure to weed them out as well! This can be a huge distraction, even if you have some pretty plants in with them. If you want something relatively easy to add, try adding a little herb garden! You can either do this in the ground, or have little pots with the individual herbs! We love basil, thyme, and mint in our herb gardens.
The most important to do on your list for summer? Enjoy every minute of it!
