Metallics

The great thing about metallic accents is that they will compliment any room. Having a metallic side table, dining room table, or lamps can really brighten up a room. They will compliment beautiful upholstered furniture or just add a bit of shine!

If you're feeling really adventurous, you can create some of your own DIY metallic decor.  For example this gorgeous mirror, follow the link to find the tile. Pinterest is always a go to for us on fun ideas to create your own. You can also go to a hardware store and get some metallic paint to add to items such as a table or some mason jars.

Geometric Patterns

Pantone, the Color Institute, has predicted that geometric patterns will be a predominant theme in 2018 according to an interview with Realtor.com.

Incorporating these patterns can be as easy as a few throw pillows, adding a tile backsplash, or wallpaper (yes, wallpaper is coming back). Luckily, finding pieces to add to the home that follows this trend is very simple. If your a Minnesotan, we all know Target has everything! Take a walk down their home decor aisles and you'll be sure to find some pieces that will add a little extra shape to your home.

Earthy and Natural

Even with all the glitz and shine, going back to natural tones are always a win! The use of in home gardens have become a popular trend as well as bringing in natural wood tones.

Organic materials have made their way in as well. No, not just organic fruits and veggies. Natural wood is a focal point. While wood has always been a theme for any home (i.e. cabinets, floors, etc.), rustic wood  will compliment a sleek and modern space.

If staging your home for resale, use living plants and flowers to liven up a room. A great accent for this is to use light reflecting mirrors to brighten up the room and feature those natural focal points. This is a great way to feel reconnected to nature if you feel that the hustle and bustle of life or the overuse of technology is taking over your home.

Iridescent accents

This is one our favorites! Iridescent accents, from tables, art pieces, or tile, really brighten up any space! In the kitchen above, it is also apparent how well the metallics of the oven and the barstools compliment this theme.

While the example above is more of the pearlescent type of iridescent, colorful and futuristic looks are starting to show up in the market. Rainbow style colors look sleek and will modernize a space.  HGTV has a great article on some smaller items in the rainbow variety you can bring into your home to fit with this popular trend.
