Fill Your Home with Gratitude

We hope you had a Spook-tacular Halloween!

Even though the months seems to be flying by this year, we LOVE November. Why, might we love November in a state that is notoriously chilly this time of year? THANKSGIVING!

No, it's not just for the food on Thanksgiving Day. This is the time of year to really focus in on being grateful for loved ones and all the amazing things that occur in your life.

Our team is particularly grateful for such an amazing year helping truly AMAZING people - we LOVE our clients! We have had so much fun and we cannot believe how fortunate we are to have the ability to assist people with their real estate needs - whether it's buying their dream home or selling their home to move somewhere new!

We do know, however, that it sometimes can be difficult to find the time to really sit down and think about all the things that you have to be grateful for. Life is crazy busy - we get it! While it may be a little easier to think about it during the holidays (there are lots of reminders), we have found that taking the time to think about what we are grateful for all year really improves overall well-being and happiness.

By taking the time to think about what you have to be thankful for, you really can fill your home with love and gratitude every day. The best part is, the feeling rubs off on the people around you. You make a positive difference not only in your own life, but everyone you come in contact with. How great is that?! Here are some tips to help you remember the great things in your life, not just around the holidays.

  1. Keep a Gratitude Journal: This is a team favorite. You can buy special journals that are designed to help you think about what you have to be grateful for, or you can find a regular notebook and commit to spending 5 minutes a day writing what you have to be thankful for. Yes, things will repeat, and that's okay! This is such a great way to start and end your day so you are reminded of the positive things in your life, even if they're a little more difficult than normal.

If you're not going to keep a journal, pick at least 1 thing a day, that you are grateful for. Pick a time that you will reflect on this and genuinely pick something that you care about. Even one piece of gratitude will warm the heart.

  2. Positive Affirmations: Did you know that by saying something out loud to yourself can actually trick your subconscious into believing it? It's this amazing power that we have over our subconscious mind. Speak convincing words of positivity, gratefulness for even the hard times, and love to yourself. It may take a little time, but this really does work if you commit to it. Remind yourself of the things that you are grateful for and your heart and mind will follow the feeling.

These positive words can be, and should be, shared with the ones you love. Take the time to share your words of positivity to your family, they may need it as much as you!

  3. Show appreciation for the little things: It's easy to forget to say "thank you" or "I appreciate you" to the people in our lives. Simple reminders telling someone that you appreciate who they are as a person, or appreciate them doing the dishes without asking (yes, that easy), enforces the behavior and lightens their heart.

By showing appreciation or thanks towards others, the recipient realize that they are grateful for you. This means that that feeling of gratitude will come back to you. That's a lot of positive energy and appreciation in your life! Don't forget to do this with strangers or people you have little interaction with - it still makes a big impact and can spread the wealth of thankfulness.

Start your holiday season off with gratitude and fill your home up with these little reminders! The real key is that the more you do these things, the easier it will be! We hope that you find it easier to be grateful than you think.

And don't forget, if you know someone you know is looking to buy, sell, or invest in real estate, let us know! We'd be grateful to help!
