Celebrating Mother's Day

This weekend is Mother's Day! (Just in case you forgot!) We all have someone in our life that we can help celebrate this weekend. Whether you are a mother, will be with your own, or have friends that are mother's, make sure to reach out to these special ladies in your life to express your love and gratitude for everything they do in raising their little, or not so little anymore, ones.

Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend with your mom in the Twin Cities? The Spring weather certainly is allowing for some activities! Here are a few things you can do with your mom over the weekend:

Mother's Day at the Minnesota Zoo
Mom's get to enter the Zoo free all day! An added bonus? They have a BOGO going on for IMAX admissions.  For details, go to the Zoo's calendar site here.

Como Zoo & Conservatory
This year they are featuring their special bonsai show at the zoo. Bonsai are gorgeous Japanese trees if you aren't familiar with the term. And remember, Como Zoo is always free for admission. Go here for more details about other programs this weekend.

Farmers Markets
This is definitely one of our favorite things to do Spring through Autumn! Get your mama out of the house and enjoy the pretty weather by going out to a farmers market. Not only are these market's full of fresh produce and often other fun products, you are supporting small business owners in the community. Bonus - try to make a Mothers Day feast with the fresh produce that you find after exploring!

One of our favorite Farmers Markets? Mill City Farmers Market. Do keep in mind that it is only on Saturday, so make sure you plan ahead!

If you are looking for another fun one on Saturday and Sunday, the Lowertown market in St. Paul is great as well!

Run or Walk a 5K Together

Is your Mom an active busy body? Or you have active friends that are moms? Go out for a 5K run with them on Mother's Day! The Mother's Day 5K is located at Como Park in St. Paul. Not only is this something fun and active to do before you go have a great big Mothers Day brunch, proceeds from the race will go to the Angel Foundation which gives financial assistance to adults and their families throughout cancer treatment.

If you need even more reason to go out and do this, you will also get a cake pop and a rose when you cross the finish line. Sounds like a pretty good way to start the day to us!

Gifts for Mom

We always think that time spent together is the best way to show your love and gratitude to those you love, however, if you want to show it a little more, or won't be there to celebrate with your loved ones, we thought we'd help with some ideas for showing you care.

We obviously love anything to do with the home! Here are some cute ideas that you can give to that special mother in your life to help make her home feel even cozier, and feel extra loved.

Have you ever been to Anthropologie? It is one of our favorite places! Not only do they have great clothing, they have so many amazing home decor items.

Flower Vase: Buy your mom some flowers and present them in a pretty and Spring-y vase like this one from Anthropologie.

Mother's Day Mimosas: If you're having brunch, Mimosa's, or at least some fresh orange juice need to be in order! Bring over some pretty new glasses and a pitcher for future use!

Save The Memories: If your mom is more of the sentimental type, this is a fantastic option! This journal helps you remember 5 years worth of memories every day. All you do is write a 1 sentence blurb about something that happened that day and do it every day for 5 years. If you've done any journaling at all, you know how fun it is to go back and see what you were doing at that time! Bonus Tip: Get one for yourself to so you can go back on memories together with your mom in a few years!

You can find all of these items online, otherwise there are several Anthropologie stores in the Twin Cities that you can go to to find similar items!

All in all, we hope you have a beautiful weekend celebrating all the special mom's in your life! We hope you do something fun and are able to share some love with these incredible ladies!

What are your Mothers' Day plans? Do  you have any spots that we should know about in the Twin Cities?
