Our Favorite Home Tricks and Treats for Halloween

We have something scary for you.... September is almost OVER! We can't believe that we are already heading into October and the chill has officially set in. We have already been loving everything cozy from warm sweaters to apple cider or pumpkin flavored everything!

As we head into October, we do get the fantastic opportunity to start decorating for one of our very favorite holidays - Halloween! Last year, we shared on our blog where some of the best pumpkin patches and orchards are for a great day with the family or friends. Not to mention, we shared our love of watching Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin every year. You can read the blog here to see some of the great patches around the cities that you need to check out.

Alright, so now that you know all the places you have to go after looking over our list. We have to get your  home feeling like Halloween is coming. We want your trick-or-treaters to be happy, and for you to have a spook-tacular day as well!

Tricks

Here are some of our favorite decorating tips for the home to really get you in the spirit:

Webs Everywhere - One of our favorite, and usually really easy, decorations is to put up spider webs everywhere. One thing we will usually do is take a bunch of cheese cloth and use it around the outside of our front door and entryway to create a creepy spot for the kiddos to come. And of course, we add spiders to appear to be crawling across the windows and doors.

However, if you are looking for a couple of other ways to incorporate webs into your decorating, we love this trash bag web idea, or decorating your drinking glasses.

Paint instead of carve - Carving pumpkins can be an extremely fun, and messy, project! We love making roasted pumpkin seeds from a freshly carved pumpkin, but somethings there just isn't the time, or maybe you don't want as big of a mess. Painting pumpkins can be just as creative and fun if you are looking for something different. One of our favorite inspirations? These super cute minion pumpkins from Despicable Me.

Stranger Things Pumpkin - If you have Netflix and you haven't watched Stranger Things yet, do it ASAP! This sci-fi show is the perfect  binge to get you in a spooky mood all throughout October and once you finish it, you will LOVE this themed pumpkin. It's all the rage on Pinterest, so you know everyone will love it.

Creepy Candles - For Halloween, we always go with a ton of candlelight. From our pumpkins, to lighting up the pathway for trick or treaters, we love the candlelight. Leading up to Halloween, we also love to set the stage in the house for some spooky candles. This is especially a great idea if you are thinking of throwing a Halloween party. Here are a couple of our favorite inspirations

Treats

Now, as much as we all love sneaking Halloween candy from the bowl (come on, we can't be the only ones...), we love having other treats around for us, or to enjoy at a Halloween Party.

Harry Potter Butterbeer Muddy Buddies - Alright, Mal has made these during one of her Harry Potter marathons and they were gone before you can say expecto patronum. If you are a fan of butterscotch, or just want to try a new twist on the favorite puppy chow (aka muddy buddies), this is a super easy and yummy treat. However, watch out for that sugar rush, it'll get ya.

Spider PB&J and Pumpkin Mandarins  - Halloween does fall on a Wednesday this year, so that means if you have kiddos, they'll be at school for lunch. If you want to give them something festive to enjoy, try making these cute and easy spider PB & J's or pumpkin mandarins.

This sandwiches should be easy to make! You can use a round cookie cutter or a jar lid to get your round bread slices, then simply make a PB & J sandwich. Add pretzel sticks for lets and a couple of chocolate chips or raisins on top and you have a spooky spider treat!

You can simply use a sharpie to draw on the peels of these oranges. The best part is that it will only take a minute and they are healthy treats for the kids!

Black Sangria - This is one of your adults only treats. This Black Sangria looks like the perfect dark, holiday themed beverage to make you feel a little like you're drinking a witches brew, while enjoying the wonderful flavors that Sangria brings.

Pumpkin Keg  - This one looks perfect if you are hosting a Halloween party! Using a real pumpkin, you can make the perfect themed keg for your adult beverages for the party or even a fun beverage for the kiddos. They'll loooove getting a drink out of a pumpkin!
