Why We Love the Spring Market
We hope you all have been enjoying this warm up this past week! After the last 2 months we had, we were ready to finally feel the joy of not needing a winter coat all day long.
Spring is officially here and it's no surprise that the Spring market is coming with it! If you have been thinking about buying or selling a house, we have some great things that we love about the Spring Market that you should definitely consider.
More Activity!
In the Twin Cities, we quite often see a slow down around the holidays and through January and February. It's no surprise that some people don't want to list their home or go out to find a new one when it's a Polar Vortex or we have the snowiest February....ever.
When Spring hits, we generally see more sellers ready to take action to get their home on the market, and buyers are eager to see what's new! This can be great for both parties because as a seller, buyers are excited to get to your home before someone else does. As a buyer, there should continue to be more homes to see as the market picks up.
You can Check Out the Exterior of the Home
It's pretty hard to see what's going on in a yard or even with a driveway during the winter. We were covered in snow and ice for so long, it's easy to forget what your backyard looks like without it! As a buyer, this is extremely helpful to see what the yard actually looks like and to see if there might be any concerns with a sidewalk or driveway when you see the home. It's also easier for a home inspector to check out the roof during your inspector so you don't have any surprises after you're already in the home.
People Want to Move When it's Nice Out
Have you moved in the winter months? It's not necessarily ideal depending on the day. Mallory had the joy of moving into her first home this winter, and while it turned out to be a good day, she does prefer warmer months to make a move! (You can read more about her first time home buying experience here)
Many people want to move during the Spring and Summer because the likelihood of more agreeable weather is higher. Many families also aim to move when school to minimize the disruption to their child's lives as well. Buying in the Spring helps guarantee a closing date that should minimize those disruptions.
Listing your home at this time will be a benefit to you because you can move into your new home while it's nice out and because many of the buyers will be looking to do the same.
Weather (Hopefully) Won't Ruin Your Showings
Want to go see a few new homes? In Spring, a giant snowfall probably won't ruin your day trying to find the right home. This can be extremely frustrating when you're searching for that home or when it's your home for sale and people cancel their showings. Take advantage of the warmer weather and clear roads.
Honestly, there's never a bad time for Real Estate in our books
While we do love the Spring market because we're not freezing and everything just seems a little brighter and happier, we really believe there isn't a bad time to jump into the Real Estate market. Depending on what your goals are, it can be the right time, any time.
