Mother's Day Weekend
Happy Mother's Day weekend to all you mama's out there! It's no secret that mom's are pretty much super heroes and deserve more than just a day to celebrate everything they do for their family.
We absolutely love going out, especially when it's celebrating the people most important to us. However, if you and your mom don't feel like being out in the crowds this year, here are some nice things you can do at home.
Make a Delicious Brunch or Dinner
Yes, going out for brunch or dinner can be great and a super nice treat. However, a nice way to pay mom back for all the meals she made you growing up is to make her something special. We love Chrissy Teigen's French Toast Bake if you and your family have a slightly sweet tooth, you can find it in her cookbook, or a slightly adapted version here - or try making an Quiche! Try this Ham & Cheese one here.
For dinner ideas, we have an all time favorite lemon fettuccine recipe that is easy, but will be sure to impress your mom! This is Rochelle's favorite meal that Mal has made for her, we promise that if you like fettuccine, you'll enjoy it!
If you need a good dessert idea, Rhubarb is in season. Get some fresh rhubarb and make this easy crisp for a dessert. It doesn't take long and it's wonderful with some vanilla ice cream on time.
Give her an at Home Spa Day
Let's face it, your mom probably hasn't treated herself to some true relaxation in awhile. Get her a fun new face mask and/or hair mask to try, or bring over a new nail color so she can do her nails. Target has a bunch of easy one-time masks that you can grab and try out. Bonus - stay in comfy clothes or a robe all day and just lounge around while doing these things while sipping on cucumber & mint water, or wine. Whatever will make her the most relaxed!
Watch a Girly Movie with Treats
Sometimes, you just need to watch a cute movie and eat lots of popcorn or ice cream. Grab a fun chick flick and curl up on the couch and enjoy one. A couple of our favorite girly movies are Bridesmaids, You've Got Mail, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Fool's Gold. Also, if you're looking for a fun movie treat, try mixing Raspberry Skinny Dipped Almonds (you can also find these at Target) with some popcorn. Salty and sweet in the best way!
Dig up Old Photos and Reminisce
This one is especially for our older kids to do with their moms. Find those bins of photos, or go back in your Cloud storage, and look back at memories growing up with your mom. Spend a couple hours telling stories and reminiscing on some of your favorite memories as a family and with your mom. Trust us, she will absolutely love this. Especially if you have some memories that stand out that she might not have realized really stood out to her.
Just Spend Time With Her!
What your mom really probably wants is just to spend time with you! If you are close enough to do so, just make an effort to spend a couple of hours with her this weekend. If you are at a long distance, a nice phone call or a FaceTime would be appreciated as well, we're sure.
Make sure to send some love to all the moms in your life this weekend! Sending a kind word to those that may have lost moms or are trying to be moms, would also be a kind way to appreciate all the women in your life.
