Spring Up Your Yard
We are beyond thrilled that this weekend is seeing temperatures in the low 70's and well into the 60's. What's even better is that the highs the next couple of weeks look much more Springy and more enticing to get outside.
If you needed another reason to get outside this weekend, other than the gorgeous weather, this is a great time to start getting your yard Spring and Summer ready. Here are some of the things we are doing this weekend to get our home Spring ready.
Wash Exterior Windows/Window Tracks
We know you probably can't get to all your windows depending on the style of home, however, if you can, clean off screens and wipe down the exterior of windows you can reach. It'll make your view to your yard a little brighter and won't be embarrassing when you have guests over! If you don't want to do this yourself, you can always hire someone. We have a couple of great contacts to reach out to if you need a company to contact.
Clean Out Gardens/Landscaping
We've noticed that our landscaping is littered with old leaves, dull mulch, and even some small debris from the fall and winter. Take advantage of the nice weather to get out and clean out your landscaping and flower beds so your perennials can grow unencumbered!
Stock up on Gardening Supplies
Do you need new mulch this year? Or need to pick up some seeds for the garden? Run out and get them so you don't have to worry about them when you're ready to plant or start brightening up the landscaping.
Pick Up Sticks
Yes, this one seems a bit silly. However, after some of our snow storms and Thundersnow we had this month, we have noticed an abundance of sticks laying around the yard. This is a good one to get kids to help too. Have them go around and collect as many as possible and save for bonfires on a nice evening.
Clear out Egress Windows and Window Wells
This goes along with the landscaping. We have quite the build up in window wells! Clean out these spaces from the gunk that accumulated over the winter to keep everything looking neat and tidy.
Bring in Some Color
While there's already some green out there, we're itching to see more color! Go pick up some potted plants or flowers that can still handle the chill from Bachman's or Pahl's Market. You could also go pick up a colorful wreath to hang up on the front door. We've talked about how much we love this look before. It's such a welcoming touch! If you really want to get adventurous, paint your front door a fun color. Bright blues or reds have been quite the trend. We especially love this look on older homes with lots of character!
